Big Brother Update

Cade is taking on his role as big brother quite well. He just loves Carter(sometimes a little too much) and the feeling is quite mutual. Carter will just sit in his swing and watch Cade play in the playroom. So sweet! I look forward to the days where they will be fun playmates. Cade is such a good helper in bringing me diapers and making sure Carter has his paci and lovie. He is always sure to let me know when Carter is crying as well. "Mommy, Carter crying. Get him!"

Although he loves his brother, the past 6 weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster for Cade. He was not a fan of our hospital stay. I think he thought I would go in and have Carter and we'd all come home that day. He was pretty stand offish with me those first few days in the hospital and at home. Once we got home and situated he warmed up a bit, but was all about Daddy. The fact that I couldn't pick him up or hold him was not helping and we both just needed some Mommy & Cade time. Matt went back to work after 2 weeks and Cade seemed to do better as things started to get back to 'normal' around our house. However, the past 3 weeks have been really rough discipline wise. We think it has a lot to do with age, but adjusting to the new normal have had some effect as well. I've definitely had my share of rough Mommy days these past few weeks but so thankful for friends who can relate and have been praying for us. The Lord has really been refining me in a lot of areas, especially in revealing my impatience, perfectionism in my home and selfishness with my time. There will be times when the house is a wreck, there's no home cooked dinner on the table and it seems that all I've done all day is change diapers, chased a 2 year old and cleaned up mess after mess. I'm learning to cherish these days, even the hard ones, instead of just watching the clock and counting the hours til Daddy gets home. I've learned that the days may be long, but the weeks and months seem to fly by! Thankful He chose me to be the mommy to these cute little boys!
