Carter's Big Day

We were in full on birthday celebration mode this weekend!  I think we've finally recovered and are slowly coming out of the birthday sugar coma.  It was a FUN weekend celebrating our boy.

Both sides of our families came up on Saturday morning.  It was the first time we've had both of them visit at the same time and it was so fun!  The boys were beside themselves to have both sets of grandparents here.  Such a treat.  After lunch and naps it was party time!  We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day.  The weather was perfect, sunny and not too windy.  Perfect for a little backyard birthday bash.

The construction site was a party favorite
We invited our families then a few new friends and neighbors to come celebrate our boy.  I loved having everyone here hanging out.  Matt grilled hot dogs and we had cupcakes.  I chose a simple orange and aqua theme for the party.  I loved how it turned out especially since I was in denial for such a long time about Carter turning one that I threw a lot of the decor together last minute.

We discovered Carter does not like hot dogs and would much rather have fruit.  Can't say that I blame him.
To say Carter enjoyed his cake would be an understatement.  This kid LOVED cake and was thrilled to be getting his fill.  The only fits Carter has thrown so far have been over taking food away from him.  He's serious about his food.

Is that all mine?

Right before I took him inside for a bath...

On Sunday(his actual birthday) we had a big family breakfast with birthday cinnamon rolls and then enjoyed a pretty quiet day at home.
It's a little early guys...

The problem with blogs is it just makes me really REALLY miss you! Lainie asked today, "Mommy, when do we get to go to Oklahoma?"
Great question... we will get this on the calendar!
LOVE YOU!
