February 7th was a big day in our house. It was the last day Cade woke up wearing a diaper! We started the 3 day potty training method that day (which was more of a 5 day method for us) and haven't looked back since. Now potty training was something I have dreaded since the day I found out I was pregnant with Cade. I was a huge advocate for the idea of sending our children to some sort of potty training camp. If you would've told me I was going to go cold turkey on diapers in 2 years I would've laughed in your face. Well, it's funny how things work out sometimes. My amazing husband has always said he would really prefer to only have one child in diapers at a time. I honestly never really took him seriously on this issue. Well turns out he was serious and wanted us to do what we could to try and potty train Cade before Carter's arrival. Needless to say there was some obstinance on my part, but finally submitted to his authority and stand on the other side extremely thankful!
When I heard that my friend Kirby had done this '3 day' method I was very skeptical. Seriously? 3 days? Is it really possible? Well, it is! Those 3 days are definitely not on my list of the most favorite days of my life. They probably rank more on the hardest, most humbling, and frustrating days list. But with the encouragement and prayer of friends we got through them and let me say that it was 100% worth it!!
Here's a little recap of our 3 days and some activities we did....
With this method you are supposed to stay home, not leaving your child's side for 3 days. Basically you follow them around constantly, not ever letting them out of your sight. Another thing about this method is the no more diapers. They wear that cute little underwear all day, every day and all night every night. Which also means you'll be washing that cute little underwear pretty often during those 3 days :)
Activity wise we did puzzles, we colored, we played with cars and trains, we made Valentine's day cards, we finger painted, had lots of 'juice box' breaks, played tons of basketball. I was worn out by the end of each day, but really enjoyed the focused time with my little guy. This whole process really showed me that I need to spend more face time with him on a daily basis and how much he really does need that time.
Here are his stats:
Day 1....
4 accidents and 3 successes. Woke up dry at nap!
Day 2....
Woke up dry that morning (then not again for the next few days). 2 accidents and 3 successes and one #2 success!! Woke up dry again at nap.
Day 3...
No accidents! (except waking in the morning)
Day 4....
We won't even go there :) This was the day he decided to forget everything we'd learned the past 3 days. By far one of the most challenging days in my parenting so far.

yay Cade!! Enjoy your diaperless few weeks before Carter gets here.
Way to go Cade Man!! You need to prepare Sawyer and teach her all of your ways... minus day 4! You can just skip right over that one! :)
So proud of you little man!
Love y'all!
