The last weekend of August we took a little trip down to Galveston with Matt's parents. We had a great weekend away and enjoyed some relaxing time together. Thankfully, we were able to borrow a DVD player for the long trip down and back! I don't think we could've survived the drive without Elmo playing in the backseat....well Matt and I probably could've done without it :)
On the way down we made a stop in Madisonville to visit the Birks. I'm pretty sure Cade is smitten with Sawyer and points her out daily on our fridge :) We had a good time visiting them and enjoyed a nice fried catfish dinner at Walkers diner in downtown Madisonville. It was yummy! Next time you're near Madisonville you should definitely check it out!
We got to Galveston late Friday night so we hit the beach early Saturday morning. Cade enjoyed playing in the sand that morning, but was not too sure about the waves. After playing in the sand for a while he decided it was time to hit the pool. He NEVER looked back! Seriously...so glad we drove 6 hours for our child to swim in a POOL! We tried the beach first each time we went out, but if that water looked like it was coming close to him at all it was a frantic "Bye Bye Bubbles!" Crazy kid...
The few pictures of Cade actually at the beach.
Saturday night we did what every child would love and went to eat at Rainforest Cafe. Except our child isn't like most little boys and HATED it. I mean, terrified for his life, clinging to us the whole time, hated it! We felt like awesome parents after that....
This picture was the only picture we have of the night before it turned bad. You can already see the hesitation in Cade's eyes..

Sunday we enjoyed a nice relaxing morning by the pool and headed to Kemah after naptime. Finally, something Cade enjoyed! He was unsure at first of all the big rides, but once we rode the little train that went around the boardwalk he was a happy camper! That's all he could talk about the rest of the night. Sadly I don't have any pictures of that night. Too busy corralling my toddler I guess.
Monday morning we headed out and made a stop in Sugarland to see our sweet college friends the Vanns and their twin baby girls!! Precious!
We had a great trip, but maybe next year we'll stick a little closer to home and just find a nice pool somewhere :)
