Frugal Tip Tuesday

So long story short I have learned a LOT about saving money over the past few months. Since we went down to one income in January I've really had to become creative in the way of grocery shopping, cooking, etc. However, it's been so fun! It's so exciting for me and I feel so helpful when I save our family money. I love finding new ways to be frugal.

Several people have asked me how we do it and for tips. So I decided to start a series on my blog. I will try to post a new idea/way I've saved money on Tuesdays and maybe other days if I find something super exciting!

First off, I have found several websites that aid me in my savings. My favorites are moneysavingmom.com and couponing101.com. They have great information about free products, coupon matching, etc. Also, we began to seriously cut and save coupons. We don't actually get the paper every Sunday, but Matt's mom mails us her inserts and Matt will sometimes go buy a paper if we know there will be several good coupon inserts that week. However, if you are going to use coupons and actually want to save a lot of money I recommend shopping at Kroger. Our Kroger here triples coupons up to 39cents and doubles up to 50cents.

Another way I save money on groceries is by planning all my meals for the week in advance. That way I know what I'm cooking every night of the week and there is no buying extra food we don't need. I try to plan my meals around the sales each week as well. There are other tactics I use, but these are the basics we started on.

Matt does all the CVS shopping. I'm still confused on how that all works, but all I know is that when he goes he comes back with all kinds of name-brand toiletries and paid like $2 out of pocket for it all. I'm pretty sure we won't need to buy toothpaste until Cade is like 12!

So there you have it. That is how the Mosiers are able to eat dinner every night:) Like I said, we've really enjoyed learning all this and it's almost like a game for us to see how much we save each week at the store. We've loved watching our grocery budget go down and have such a stockpile of stuff that we can give to others when there is need.

If you have any more ideas/questions I would love to hear them! I love showing people how they can save money as well.

More frugal tips to come!

Can Matt and Josh get together so Josh can learn this CVS shopping business? It's a whole lot of math stuff and I tried but it makes my head spin. Josh read about on Heather's blog (I'm sure he's so proud I'm saying that) and I think he kind of gets it...

But we like the idea of legally robbing stores so we want to get this down!

Yay Erin! I'm trying to be super frugal as well. This whole coupon business is new to me and quite overwhelming but I'm trying. Yay for Cade rolling! Did it just warm your heart? I hope he is doing well and the reflux medication is working well! How sad was it watching him get his shots? I wanted to cry!
