Christmas is hands down my favorite time of the year. I love everything that goes along with this time of year, especially all the Christmas music.
This year is special because it is our first as a family. It has been so much fun decorating our home and thinking about all the traditions we want to start. In thinking of these traditions we've been discussing how we want Christmas to look different in our home then it might in others. This has been hard for me and I know God has so much work to do on my selfish heart, but I'm so glad we are starting this now before we have little ones in our home.
One thing we want to do differently is gifts. Matt feels strongly about not answering the question "What do you want?" He thinks that is too easy and there is no thought that goes into the giving. Also this makes us selfish in that we expect to get what we want and that's not okay. We are very pro gift giving and love shopping for others. It is so much fun getting things that we know someone will enjoy. We love it!!!!
As many of you know Matt is pro Christmas, but anti Santa. Thankfully we don't need to worry about that quite yet, but it is something that we talk seriously about. However you will not see any Santa decor in our home.
We still have so much to learn but we are enjoying our first Christmas and making the most of it! My favorite thing right now is sitting on my couch with only the Christmas tree lights on and listening to Andrew Peterson. You should stop right now and go buy his Christmas CD, Behold the Lamb of God. It is stinkin amazing! Basically it is the story of the Bible to music. If you are still unsure, come to the Christmas play at Living Hope this weekend. You will not be disappointed.
So Merry Christmas to the 6 people who read this. We appreciate the support (Moms, Dad, Jenn, Heather and D.O.). Not Season's Greetings. Because what does that really mean anyway. Seasons can't greet you. I seriously have issues with that.

Seasons greetings is fine, it's like saying, "hey, it's the season... hello!"
We can agree to disagree about that. However, nobody is allowed to disagree with us on the fact that Andrew Peterson's Behold the Lamb of God ought to be playing in everyone's home CD players.
Also, I agree, you should come to LH's Christmas deal. Man, it's going to be good. D.O. said so. Blame him if it's not.
Oh, and Mosiers... I'm on wordpress now...
I love you cute Christmas neighbors!!
Heather
Merry Christmas to you and enjoy your 1st Christmas together! You two have been such a blessing to me since you have become Mr. & Mrs. Mosier. I am so proud of you guys!
Love you,
Mom
7! You forgot me. I subscribe to this here blog and know the minute some action happens on it.
Cute tree! I remember our first Christmas all to well. It was special and tree-less. We had saved up money to actually buy a tree. When we had finally saved $30, which was a stretch for us, we went out to go and purchase this tree.
On the way there, we started talking about how we missed eating at restaraunts. It wasn't in our budget to eat out, so it was a real treat if we ever got to.
We started talking about how we LOVED Casa Ole and we each got this 'are you thinking what I'm thinking' look. The excitement went from getting the tree to enchiladas very quickly.
We started justifying our desires to indulge in tasty food by saying that we weren't even going to be home the week of Christmas and so having a beautifully lit tree was pointless. I didn't even have ornaments for the tree at the time either. Ornaments=money. We didn't have any. Only $30 for a tree. That was a problem.
We gave into our tastes buds and turned into the Casa Ole parking lot. The rest is history.
You will look back and always remember your first Christmas and how fun and special it was.....tree or no tree.

MOM (Mosier)
Apparently you have a lot more than 6 regular readers, and I'm one of them.
As far as Santa is concerned, now that my nephew is 4, he's old enough to understand. My sister doesn't like the idea of lying to him about this magic man, but also doesn't want him ruining the fun for other kids. So they're going to talk about who St. Nicholas really was (or rather, who we think he really was, since the history gets mixed up with the myth) and how he gave gifts to the poor and how to remember what he did, we "play Santa" and kind of take it from that perspective. I like that idea.
And your tree looks lovely!
