Carter 16 Months

Carter, you have grown like crazy this month!!  The biggest news is that you are finally an official walker! I told Daddy that you would walk by 16 months and you didn't let me down.  You are loving your new found freedom in walking and it still takes me by surprise to see you come toddling around the corner.  It's so cute yet you can get into things so much faster these days..
One of our biggest challenges in the past couple of weeks has been your napping schedule.  You are almost ready to give up your morning nap but still aren't quite ready to make it all the way to 1pm every afternoon. So you end up going down earlier but only sleeping about 2 hours and then turn into grumpy pants around dinner time.  Let's try to get this figured out this month, ok?
Your little personality is coming out big time these days!  Yes you are still pretty laid back, most of the time, but you also have a feisty side to you that shows itself more and more. I think this is mainly due to lack of communication and we're working on learning your ways of communication to try and help solve some of these dilemmas.
Some other little facts about you...

Clothes: You are wearing 12-18 month clothes, size 5wide shoes and size 4 diapers.
Words: You are saying more and more every day.  Most recently you have learned choo choo, sak (snack), tuk (truck) and book.  Mainly you are pretty quiet word wise and tend more to the squealing/yelling side of things.
Favorites: Dessert/Food of any kind.  If I'm in the kitchen chances are you are right there beside me making sure I don't forget about you.  You love any kind of ice cream or cookie.  You also have started to really like a few board books and want me to read them to you over and over.  They are "Trains Go", "Goodnight Moon", and any book with animals or trucks on it.  You also love tackling and wrestling with Cade and being outside. You are completely obsessed with Pico and dogs.  If you see any kind of animal you will call it a dog no matter how many times we try to correct you.
Other New Tricks: You can follow simple one task instructions.  You love shoes and making sure everyone's shoes are in the shoe bucket by the door.  My favorite by far is when you walk around the house with a light saber making the sound effects as you swing it around.  Cutest thing ever.

Even though you are a mess and keep us on our toes way more than your brother did at this age, we love you Carter bud!  I wouldn't change a thing about you at this age.  I'm soaking it in as much as I can.  I just can't resist your little grin and shaggy hair....gets me everytime.  Love you sweet boy, can't wait to see how you grow and change this month!

We are in that nap transition stage too. Some days he will still take two naps but when he doesn't he gets sleepy around 11:30/noon and then just like Carter he wake up a grump and is grumpy from then on. A couple of days this week, we have been out and he has gotten a 30ish minute nap in the car in the morning then he took an afternon nap from 2-4 and those days seemed better. If he can get any sort of a morning nap, no matter how long, I can push him until 2 and then we are good. It's so hard to figure them out sometimes!!
