We love Christmas time here at the Mosier house! The sights, smell, music, etc.!!
This year we have been really been trying to put our focus more on Christ and his coming at Christmas. I'm not going to lie, this has been a lot harder for me than I thought it would be. It is so easy to get caught up in all the hubbub of Christmas and forget what you are truly celebrating.
Matt and I went to the mall last weekend and in just the few minutes we were there, I was sucked in to the madness of wanting/buying gifts that I did not need. Once we got home and I realized this nastiness in my heart I just felt sick. One, for realizing the sin of wanting things in my heart and two, just how easy it is to fall back into old ways of thinking, etc.
God is really teaching both of us so much this year about what this time of year truly means. We have been doing Advent devotionals each night as a family and it has been amazing! We have been reading the prophecies of the birth of Jesus made hundreds of years before he actually came. I have learned so much, even though I grew up in the church!
We really want God to train our hearts this year, so next year when we have little eyes watching to see how we celebrate we can train them correctly.
All this to say, we've had a great Christmas season so far and can't wait to enjoy the rest of this special season!! Next weekend we are having the annual Mosier Christmas Baking/Movie Extravaganza. Get excited!
One more thing...it SNOWED this past week. It was a little sad for me since Matt was out of town. It's not so fun to play in the snow by yourself. Not to mention that being really cold is not on my top 10 list of favorite things. However, it was still really exciting to see it actually snowing in College Station Texas. I think we probably had about 1.5-2 inches of snow! It was crazy!!! Here are some pictures, they are really not all that great, but you get the point.

So true about getting sucked back into the hub bub of christmas junk...just today at Target i saw the cutest girl gifts on sale and thought that would be perfect for the girls (nieces), but had to stop myself b/c I've already made all their gifts and gifts are not what we're focusing on this year as a family....so easy to fall back!!! Can't wait for picturs of your baking extravaganza!!

Hi Erin, I'm Carrie's mom. Love reading your blog and "knowing her friends. Putting Christ into Christmas can be overwhelming as the world around us is out there with all the sights and sounds of buying and having. We raised our three kids with the focus on Christ...ask Carrie about that. Sometimes they wanted the sights and sound of the world but we see the results now in their adult life. Christmas is beautiful and we can use the pretty sights to teach about God and Jesus. God bless Matt and you as you raise your child/children in the ways of God.

Alone when it was snowing?... do Sara and I mean nothing to you!?!
Also, I wish you would explain in more detail what exactly goes into these "Advent Devotionals"... is there actual fire involved?
Just kidding... more power to you... I commend your fireless efforts... you guys are doing better than Sara and I. Let us know how it all works out?
Lol, I would like to know more about your Advent Fireless Candles as well!! :)
Oh my and I just looked at the Cade Clock and saw ONLY 45 more days! Geeze! That little one will be here before we know it-- can't wait!
Love you guys! Will we see you before we leave?!
