Summer Fun 2012

At the beginning of the summer I made a list of some fun things I wanted us to do before summers end.  All though we didn't get through ALL the items on my long list, we did accomplish quite a lot and had LOTS of fun.  Here is a little recap of all our fun!
  • Make Kool Aid Playdoh
    • This was such a fun and easy activity.  Cade loved making the playdoh and playing with it.  We tried drinking some Kool Aid while playing with the dough, but neither of us were big fans.  Too much sugar!

  • Pool
    • We spent many an afternoon at the local pool.  I would've loved to go more but it didn't open until nap time so we always had to wait and go in the late afternoon.  By late July it was way too hot to go at 3:30 or 4!  However we did enjoy swimming the afternoons away with fun friends!

  • Splashpad
    • I didn't take a pic of this outing, but we did go to one of the Splashpads once.  Carter was still not walking so it wasn't much fun for him and neither of my boys are really into water splashing in there face.  Maybe next year it will be more enjoyable!
  • Great Wolf Lodge
    • This was definitely the highlight of our summer!  You can read more about it here.
  • Waco trip(s)
    • We were fortunate enough to be able to make a few trips down to Waco and have our families come here as well.  Time spent with family is always a great time, just wished we lived a bit closer so we could see them more!

  • Natural History Museum
    • Our town has a pretty neat little history museum that the boys and I enjoy.  Matt was able to go with us once this summer and we all had a great time!  Cade loves to see the dinosaur bones.

  • Read
    • We love to read at our house!  We spent many hours this summer reading new books from our library.  Cade and I even started a chapter book.  Our summer favorites would definitely be all the Berenstein Bears books.
  • Farmers Market
    • Norman has a great Farmers Market each Saturday and Wednesday morning.  We made a few trips this summer for some yummy peaches and melons!
  • Story Time at the Library
    • I love our local library.  We enjoyed story time a few times but also enjoyed going to play with all the fun train and activity tables they have.

  • Masking tape Road
    • This was a definite hit with my boys and something Cade continually asks to do.

  • Duck Pond
    • There is a fun little duck pond area on campus.  We had never been and I wanted to check it out at some point this summer.  So when are friends, the Bassetts, came to town we decided to brave the heat and check it out.  It was so much fun!  There were a crazy amount of ducks but they were super friendly.  All the kids had a blast.

  • Summer Movie at Warren Theater
    • The nearby movie theater offers summer kids movies for $2 every Tuesday and Thursday during the summer.  So Cade and I were able to sneak away and have a little movie date complete with popcorn!  We saw Puss in Boots.  Such a fun little date with my little man.

  • Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt
    • Yummy!!  We visited this establishment a few times this summer and enjoyed every bite!
All in all its been a fantastic summer!! There were many more random and fun activities but these were the ones off my list. We had our end of summer finale last night, but that deserves its own post.  I'm sad to see the lazy days, long evenings and fun trips end but I'm also looking forward to more routine and a fun filled fall with some new changes for our family.

So long Summer 2012!  We loved every minute with you!!
