We are so excited that Carter is finally here!! He is such a great, laid back baby so far and we're loving having a newborn in the house again. Cade is the best big brother our little guy could ask for; he is constantly making sure Carter is ok and loves giving him hugs and kisses. Things are a bit crazy around here as we're adjusting to having 2 little guys around, but thankfully Matt has 2 weeks off work to help us get back on our feet!
Here is Carter's story....
Tuesday, April 19 I woke up not feeling Carter move as much as he had been/as much as I thought he should. I called my doctor and they wanted me to go to L&D to be monitored. So we packed our bags, dropped Cade off with the Fabers and headed to the hospital. We were scared to death and had no idea what this meant. I honestly thought we were going to meet Carter that day. Thankfully, God has given me some amazing friends who prayed for us that whole morning. Well wouldn't you know, our crazy boy started moving like a wild man as soon as I was hooked up to the monitor. Silly Carter, just wanted to make sure we were paying attention :) So we were sent home with Carter still snug in my belly.
Wednesday afternoon I began having contractions that got stronger, closer as the night wore on. I was basically up all night that night and finally got in the shower around 5am thinking it was almost time to head to the hospital. False alarm! As soon as I got in the shower the contractions stopped leaving me exhausted and frustrated. Luckily I had a dr. appt that day and was hoping for good news of progression.
Well no progression had been made and we were frustrated and unsure of what to do next. We had planned for a VBAC with a c-section scheduled for April 26 (day after my due date) if he still hadn't made his arrival. After MUCH discussion btw Matt and I and Dr. Wood we decided it was best to go ahead and schedule a c-section for the next day, Friday April 22nd at 11 am! It wasn't my 1st choice to have another c-section but I felt a peace about this decision. Dr. Wood was not on call for the upcoming weekend and the on call dr was not VBAC friendly and wouldn't have let me go through labor unless I showed up at a 7 or 8. After meeting the on call dr over the weekend I was SO glad we made the decision we did.
So Friday morning we got up, showered and left Cade with our parents while we headed to the hospital. It was so weird waking up KNOWING by that afternoon I would be holding my sweet boy in my arms. We are so thankful for all the friends and family that prayed for us that day. We (mainly Matt) were a bit apprehensive about the thought of surgery, but felt so well loved and cared for that day. I am so in love with this sweet baby and so thankful to now be the mommy to 2 little boys!
Here are a few pics of our sweet boy...
