So I know Cade is almost 13 months, but lets be honest is there really a huge difference between 12 and 13 months...I'm going with probably not.
I still can't believe my baby is a year old, but after a few days of denial I am embracing it. I think in my mind I always assumed that at a year he would magically be a toddler and not a little baby anymore. Although I would not use the word little baby to describe him, he is still a baby! I mean the kid still crawls everywhere. You can't be a toddler until you're walking! So no he's not walking yet, (yes Matt is concerned) but I am savoring these last days I have before he's running around everywhere.
He's weighing in at right about 21lbs and 29 inches. That's about 25th percentile in both height and weight, BUT his head size is in the 90ths percentile. I attribute that to the not walking, I mean when your head is that big in comparison to your body there is no way you can keep your balance! He is an amazing sleeper which I am so thankful for!! Still taking mainly 2 naps a day, but I think those days are numbered.
The kid cracks me up all day long. He's very loud these days, "talking" to me all day long as if I should know exactly what he's saying. I have no idea where he gets his volume.....HA! He is saying "Mama", "Dada", "Duh"(Dog), and "Ca"(Car). Although he doesn't really have words yet, he is very good at communicating his wants by signing and pointing. The pointing has been such a blessing in the past few weeks!! It has helped so much in communicating with him, except when he's pointing at something that's off limits....good times.
Cade loves to the outdoors! I am counting down the days until Spring when we can be outside constantly! He wakes up from his nap pointing at his window almost everyday and he loves to just stand and watch the cars in our parking lot from the window. He also loves to GO! He knows that to go "bye-bye" we all have to have our shoes. So if you're getting shoes on at our house you better be taking a little boy with you!
He's not real big into his toys. He'd much rather be playing with the remote, tubberware, or in the dishwasher. However, in just the past week he has a new obsession with little cars. It's so cute!! I love how boys just know how to push them to make the car go and how to make little car noises. Precious!
The one thing that has been a bummer the past month is the constant ear infections. He's had repeat infections for several weeks now. Hopefully this last one has cleared and there will be no fluid when we go back for a re-check! We also took a visit to the allergist this month and should hopefully be getting back the blood test results in a few weeks!
Little Man, you bring so much joy into our lives! We are so thankful for all that you have taught us this past year and will continue to teach us about ourselves in the coming year. We love you so much and pray fervently for the day of your salvation!
