Our Sweet Boy

Well we are home and getting settled. My mom has been staying with us the past few days and has been a huge help! We've definitely been fed well and our house is spotless! Our first night home was a little rough, but last night was much better. Cade is a very laid back baby so far, which I am very thankful for!

Since a lot of you have been asking, here are the high points of his birth story.

I started having contractions last Saturday(Jan 31)night around 10:30. They came on pretty sudden and fast. By 3:30 they were about 5 minutes apart which is when we decided to head on to the hospital.

Right before we left to have a baby! (in between contractions)

My body was progressing nicely and they admitted us. I finally received my epidural around 8:30 am. Long story, but apparently there is only one anesthesiologist at St. Joes in the middle of the night. I'm pretty sure I told the guy he was my hero when he finally came. I continued to progress nicely, but as my contractions came harder and faster Cade's heart rate would drop. They kept changing my position, but this kept happening and worsening. The doctor was not quite sure what was going on, but around 1:30 came in and told us we need to get this baby out now. So I ended up having an emergency C-section. This is not something we wanted at all, I really wanted to be able to deliver naturally, but in this situation none of that mattered.

However at 2:16 our beautiful healthy baby boy was born. It was amazing!!! Apparently, something was pressed up against the umbilical cord cutting off the blood supply to him. I am still not exactly sure, but all I know is that I have a healthy baby!

Okay, sorry for the picture overload, but I think I've taken more pictures the past five days then I have in the past year.

We love sweet Cade! Isn't it crazy that just a week ago we were hanging out, eating Blue Baker and wondering when that precious baby would get here!

I wished we lived close so they could be friends! It is crazy how our stories are so similar! How are your nights coming? Are you getting rest? Are you in pain?

Adam made the slide show but he said it was pretty easy. I look forward to seeing one or more photos of sweet Cade!

Hey Mosiers!
We really, really want to come see Cade, but everyone at my house has been sick so we don't want to contaminate things and risk getting y'all or sweet Cade sick.

So, the Humphrey/Barnes team will be MIA for a bit until I know for SURE that I'm not going to pass along a gross stomach/throat/nose/eye infection sickness.

miss you guys!

Congratulations!!! I was so excited to hear of the arrival of our newest LH baby! I can't come visit due to mono and staph infection, but know that I'm thinking of you as you recover physically and as you love on your little son!
